International equestrian and technology entrepreneur, Pablo Jimenez Godoy is onto something big. As co-creator of the Staller app, Pablo shared exciting new developments for the business in a recent interview with The Tech Equestrian that includes building a new digital platform that will transform the horse show world, as we know it. But let’s start with a little background…

The Inspiration
Launched in December 2016, the Staller app was designed to digitally manage the need for stable rentals and listings that feature an advanced search based on available inventory, location, and price. “Prior to the app, you had to go through a realtor and they would add a 10%-15% margin, not to mention the fact it wasn’t a focus for them,” said Pablo. Given his frustration with the whole process and brainstorming with close friend and fellow equestrian, Arturo Ferrando, they both saw the opportunity in Wellington, Florida. The app adoption took off as equestrians realized the convenience and ease of its features and in the past two years the inventory of properties has grown to 100 in Wellington with an additional 80 in the heavy horse populated states of New England, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Kentucky. “Our plan is to expand the Staller app across the entire US,” added Pablo.

Staller 2.0
In the next phase of the Staller product roadmap Pablo and Arturo are set to develop a solution that will allow barn owners the ability to monetize their barn by offering marketing expertise and technology integration. This new enhancement which he calls “monetizing experiences” will allow owners to customize offers, from promoting a summer camp to attracting riders for a training session via the app. “It’s important to give our customers a value-add.”

“We have 10 full-time employees, along with additional staff including marketing and support,” said Pablo who has also been focused on streamlining the onboarding process with his team. “We currently have the capacity to onboard 20 barns a week,” he said. Pablo has always been interested in technology and combining that with his entrepreneurial background and business degrees he launched his own tech startup called WeKanCode, a service that offers high quality engineers to develop apps and other software products for startup companies. This wealth of talent and ideas led Staller to a partnership that will soon change the way you experience horse shows.

Creating the Ultimate Show Solution: Stallershows
With the knowledge of the Staller app development and the strength of owning an engineering company, Staller has already begun to write its next chapter by teaming up with one of the top equestrian event management companies in the US: Morrissey Management Group (MMG). The partnership is designed to create the ultimate show solution as it relates to an integrated digital experience. This end-to-end solution, named Stallershows, is for show management services that will allow horse show operators to streamline their operations while delivering a better experience for participants. MMG is known for producing some of the nation’s most popular one and two-week horse shows, weeks-long circuits of shows along with one-day major event productions in the country, including the Longines Global Champions Tour, American Gold Cup, the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival, the Palm Beach Masters and more. “This joint venture will provide a full service solution across the horse show community tying show operations with vendors, competition results, and services,” said Pablo. At the recent Great Lakes Equestrian Festival in Traverse City, Michigan, Staller was a sponsor, and it served as a pilot event. “The show is a perfect testing ground for the product using real data that will help us make adjustments we can then roll out at future venues. The plan is to grow this product and introduce it to a global audience.” Pablo grew up in Paris and both Arturo and their families are well connected in Europe.

“We are at the stage where we are starting to capitalize on the joint venture,” he said. “This partnership represents one of our customer acquisition strategy goals. By integrating our technology at top events, we will have a better chance of retaining equestrian customers and giving them added value.” Staller will also be sponsoring the American Gold Cup in September at Old Salem Farm, a high-profile competition that will help showcase the new products’ capabilities.

Future Thoughts for the Horse World
“We’ve already seen in the past two years the amount of adoption for technology apps and products has increased with equestrians, so I think in five years, it will definitely be more widespread,” said Pablo. Horse owners, who invest in the sport and their horses, will be early adopters to all of the new safety and sensor technologies that are coming to the market. Pablo cited StableGuard; an Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered company designed for equine monitoring and alerts that he thinks is very innovative. “At Staller, we hope to be a big player in this industry,” he said. “Equestrians are a pragmatic, close knit community and working with them as a fellow horse lover and equestrian brings me a great amount of satisfaction. I’m also lucky to have an amazing staff and support team to help make the Staller evolution a reality.”
