Top 10+ Horse Tech Solutions for 2025
If you are like me, you appreciate 'bookends'—stories that both look ahead with predictions at the start of the year and reflect with reviews at the end. In the rapidly evolving world of horse technology, where solutions are consistently entering and enhancing the industry, it is important to pause and recognize these advancements. Choosing a 'top 10' for each category is challenging, given the impressive array of horse tech solutions available from both newcomers and seasoned professionals, so you’ll notice some categories list more than one.
Mane Street Market Podcast
I would like to extend a special thank you to India Wilkinson from Mane Street Market for inviting me to participate in a recent podcast. During our conversation, she asked me to select some of the leading solutions in the horse tech space. This prompted me to immediately consider my Paddock Players category as a highlight for innovative technology in the industry.
Here's a quick recap on what solutions were featured:
BARN MANAGEMENT
This is a very crowded category and there are many options - in this case I broke it out into 2 types:
Established: Stable Secretary Offers 4 different plans; includes billing; mobile app; calendar functionality; top show barns use them; Amanda Steege/AshMeadow Farm, Team Irwin Dressage and Blue Clover Eventing and they have been in business since late 2000’s. Newcomer: Equicty Offers a free trial; functionality for a smart stable board; features: Hoofy – the first AI stable assistant for professional horse & stable management; analyzing your stable’s data into actionable strategies.
BUYING & SELLING
There are many great solutions, but Mane Street Market is the leader; I’m a user and I’m on the site weekly looking at horses for sale using the easy and advanced filters and I save my searches. I like the quality of consistent information provided; I think that has always been a challenge – from photos to videos to an accurate description + the amount of social media exposure this solution provides sellers is top notch. India’s business expertise and horse background is also a great combination for providing a superior service.
COMMUNITY
Femme Cheval is a recent addition to the equestrian scene, introducing a social networking platform branded as the "premier equestrian social community." It provides an all-in-one resource for riders, trainers, and stables, aiming to unify the equestrian world through a seamless and user-friendly experience. The site features a central directory and database to help users find stables, trainers, and fellow equestrians.
COMPETITION SCORING & DATA
EquiRatings, based in Ireland, supplies statistics for prominent jumping and eventing competitions and collaborates with organizations like FEI, British Eventing, and US Equestrian. Their motto is "Data that Drives Sport."
A fresh choice to check out is, EquiScore, which is currently in beta testing and has generated excitement within the community; it includes video analysis. I plan to feature a full length blog post in January.
HORSE HEALTH & MANAGEMENT
The Equestrian App stands out for its organizational capabilities, which are essential for top-notch horse health and management. Its robust features come at a low cost. Developed by Patrick Husting, a former Microsoft developer turned entrepreneur, the app reflects his passion for horses and commitment to supporting the community, offering innovative ways to keep owners organized and informed their horses’ health.
HORSE SHOW & CLINIC MANAGEMENT
Event management software is seeing strong contenders, each led by family teams: Pegasus (run by Sam and Jen) and Horse Spot (managed by Michael, Christopher, and Lindsay). Their efforts aim to make shows more streamlined and engaging, and there is anticipation around how facilities will adopt these solutions to enhance the show experience. Strider also remains a well-established option for clinic management, having served the community for several years.
RIDER FITNESS
This category offers a wide variety of choices — I’m a fan of Haybales & Barbells with creator, Jamie Graham, an equestrian, certified personal trainer and recreation therapist who provides detailed instruction for staying strong in the saddle. You could easily dedicate an entire segment to rider fitness! In fact, I've featured several options in a previous edition of WEC Magazine.
RIDER TRAINING
Rider training involves working with your horse both in the saddle and on the ground. The range of excellent solutions here makes picking just one challenging! My top recommendation is Ridely, thanks to their established presence and the impressive roster of international trainers available through their app. I also appreciate RideIQ, and the dynamic team of Jessa and McKinsey Lux who created a solution that provides real-time instruction capabilities.
SERVICES
This is another highly competitive category that brings immense value to horse owners, trainers, and service professionals. I’ll spotlight two personal favorites:
Established: Equo, which revolutionized horse transportation—think Uber for horses—and stands among the pioneers of horse tech. I’d love to see them partner with a video surveillance company, offering both location tracking and visuals during transport.
Newcomer: Equigate is perfect for service practitioners who need organized client communication; my massage therapist uses it to schedule appointments and create client reports using built-in templates. The app even allows direct markup on muscular anatomy diagrams to highlight and track problem areas—a true game changer!
WEARABLES
This category has become even more exciting now that the renowned brand Garmin has launched the Blaze Equine Wellness System, a tail-mounted device with biometric sensors measuring heart rate, stride, gait, skin temperature, and more (retail price $600). It’s not only innovative but also shows how major brands are recognizing the potential in equine markets—plus, it integrates seamlessly with Garmin smartwatches.
Equestic offers a saddle clip that delivers motion analysis, including gait and stride rhythms, along with benchmarks and insights for tracking progress. Data from the clip syncs instantly with the app, and subscription packages vary for amateurs and professionals.
Final Note: I plan to introduce an 11th category to Paddock Players: Horse Safety & Surveillance, focusing on video and camera solutions like Barn Owl and Equine Eye.
