EQUICARE: Building a Community of Confident Riders and Healthy Horses

Brisbane, Australia

Nicole Creed, founder and director of EquiCare started riding horses at the age of seven while living in Melbourne, Australia. It was the week-long overnight horseback riding camps during school holidays which got her hooked. By the age of 14, she owned her first horse and started her equestrian journey.

Nicole quickly advanced in eventing, reaching the 2* level and spent time training horses in France and the U.S. However, it was when she had a major shoulder injury which led to multiple reconstructions and time away from the saddle which really got her thinking about the systems she relied on for horse management. Managing her horse from a distance during recovery was extremely difficult and revealed the shortcomings of traditional management systems, which were often scattered and hard to use.

“I struggled with managing my horses using traditional tools like whiteboards and wanted a mobile solution I could access anywhere, for any number of horses,” Nicole says. Years of refining that idea with developers led to EquiCare.

Two Years of Growth
The EquiCare app launched for iOS and Android on July 12, 2023. Since then, it has evolved into a comprehensive management system used by riders worldwide, regardless of experience level. EquiCare brings together health, training, competitions, and goals into a single, intuitive interface, helping riders stay organized and prepared. Small details that drive performance are tracked, care routines are managed on time, training loads are balanced, recovery is planned, and competition preparation is streamlined. This clarity brings calm to home routines, consistency to training, and readiness for competitions.

As an Australian-owned business, EquiCare’s mission is to revolutionize the approach to horse management across all sectors of the industry.

Centralized Horse Management
Managing a horse can present challenges for riders of any age. There are a limited number of effective solutions available, particularly in Australia, for tracking equine needs, which can be frustrating as a horse owner. EquiCare brings everything all in one place. The result is clearer planning, better care and increased performance.

EquiCare key features:

  • Adaptive Home Page: The content on your home page adjusts based on the information you've provided in the app. It also provides a convenient preview of the week’s scheduled events.

  • Calendar System: lets you easily schedule appointments, manage treatments, contacts, dates, repeat intervals, times, and reminders—all in one intuitive interface.

  • Stable Feature: enables you to create and manage horse profiles for all your horses. This feature offers a streamlined way to access individual records for each horse, promoting organization and efficiency.

Easily keep track of appointments, treatment, contacts and more with the calendar feature.

  • Horse Profile: brings together your horse's health, training, competition and goals, making it simple to view everything. You can also see a whole weekly schedule just for the one horse to balance health, work and recovery.

  • Feeding: A dedicated area to view every horse’s feed, make quick changes and add notes for feed up.

  • Finance: Track expenses and income for each horse to manage costs.

  • Team Sharing: Share access with owners, riders, coaches and agistment so everyone stays aligned.

  • Profile Transfers: Move a horse profile to a new owner or rider in seconds to make the transition process seamless.

  • Contacts: EquiCare streamlines contact management with a space for all your equine professionals. Sort contacts by job type and store details to keep information organized and communication efficient. You can also call directly from the app within their profile or event.

EquiCare makes managing your horses easy and accessible from your mobile device, offering greater convenience than traditional diaries or whiteboards.

“Riders tell us EquiCare helps them plan with more intention, spot patterns earlier and turn up to competitions feeling prepared. When health care, training and show plans are available in one location, it becomes easier to balance workload, manage recovery and build toward goals with confidence,” said Nicole.

Looking Ahead in Horse Tech
“The equine industry has been slow to adopt technology, but I believe the next five years we will see top stables, racing facilities, and agistment centers increasingly using software to streamline horse management,” highlighted Nicole.

EquiCare is developing a desktop version to provide a larger workspace for stable planning and management. Features will include exclusive dashboards, enhanced finance tools, and the ability to screenshare to stable TVs and optimize layouts for iPad. The desktop will stay in sync with the mobile app, ensuring team sharing and permissions remain consistent across devices.

Exploration into AI aims to accelerate management processes and reveal helpful patterns, always prioritizing user privacy and making new features optional.

EquiCare is available for iOS and Android, with a 14-day free trial and plans starting from just $5.95/month.
