EQ COACH-COPILOT: Retain your Lesson Between Trainings

We’ve all been there - you finish a lesson and you had some great improvements, but you also need to work on a few things.

Then a few days later, you’re riding alone and trying to remember:

“Wait… was I supposed to support more with the outside rein or soften sooner with the inside hand?”

That gap between coached rides and solo rides is one of the biggest challenges in equestrian training.

Enter EQ Coach-Copilot, a new AI solution from Equestic that is built specifically to address that problem by creating continuity of a great coach between lessons.

Instead of acting like a digital notebook or fitness tracker, Coach-Copilot is an AI-assisted coaching companion for riders and trainers. And in a sport where progress often depends on subtle timing, feel, and repetition, that’s a surprisingly ambitious idea.

The Tech Equestrian caught up with Nicole Graf, Chief Marketing Officer from Equestic to understand more about this cutting-edge use of AI in equestrian training.

Turning Lessons into Searchable Coaching Memory
“One of the platform’s most unique features, thanks to AI is its ability to record and organize coaching lessons in real time,” shared Nicole. “The solution preserves coaching intelligence and extends the learning beyond your time with your trainer, filling that gap between lessons.”

Instead of riders relying on memory alone, the system can generate:

  • Lesson summaries

  • Key coaching cues

  • Structured notes

  • Training history

  • Reminders for future rides

As equestrians know, riding is deeply verbal and sensory at the same time. Riders process huge amounts of information during lessons, often while physically balancing, reacting to the horse, and trying to coordinate timing. It’s easy for important details to disappear after the ride ends.

The EQ Coach-Copilot app captures those details before they’re lost.

The Real Innovation: What Happens Between Lessons
This is the platform’s most important differentiator. Traditional coaching only gives trainers visibility into a tiny amount of a rider’s actual training time. “Think about it, your coach only sees a fraction of your training, one or two rides a week and they are missing the independent rides in between, which creates inconsistency.” Did you know that riders forget up to 70% of what they learned within 24 hours after a coaching session.

EQ Coach-Copilot bridges that gap by helping riders stay connected to training goals outside formal lessons. Features include:

  • Ride reflections

  • AI reminders

  • Lesson recall

  • Structured solo-practice support

Don’t think of the app as a replacement of your trainer, it is more about extending your trainer’s influence beyond the arena.

How Does it Work?
Riders and trainers want to be able to use something that is easy to integrate with their current pre-ride prep. “Both rider and trainer need to have the app on their phone,” said Nicole. “First they need to download the free app from the Google Play or Apple App store, register an account, and for the rider to add their horse(s).” Nicole also mentioned to insert a microphone into the phone, but it’s not necessary -as long as your phone can hear you, that’s all that matters. “Once you get in the ring, the trainer opens the app and hits ‘record training’ then ‘add rider or choose rider (if already listed)’ and sends a QR code to the student to follow the prompts and accept the recording of the training. Once the training concludes, the trainer hits ‘stop and summarize’ on the app. This allows the trainer to edit the transcript and send to their student. Now they both have written documentation from the lesson to reflect on during the time away.

Top Features for Riders

  • Lesson Diary: Access automated, AI-generated summaries and direct quotes from your trainer, ensuring you remember your homework.

  • Solo Ride Assistance: Access on-demand coaching summaries before riding alone, setting you up for success for your next lesson.

 Top Features for Coaches

  • Real-Time Recording & Transcription: Capture lesson audio, transcribe instructions, and generate actionable summaries without extra administrative work.

  • Student Progress Tracking: Allows you to look back and reflect on previous sessions to better plan for the next lesson and track your rider’s progress.

There are many use cases for this solution including professional training programs, remote coaching, riding schools, elite competition barns, and trainers managing many students. It can be used for every level of rider – from beginner to advanced.

Combining Training with Horse Motion Data
The EQ Coach-Copilot is powerful on its own but combine that with the integrated horse movement data from the EQ Saddle-Clip sensor platform and you have data-rich insights on your horses’ performance that overlays with your training. “Equestic is elevating the solution to provide one single training ecosystem, your one source of truth to advance your riding,” said Nicole. Now you can track long-term development, help prevent injury and identify subtle performance trends over time.

EQ Coach-Copilot Answers the Question
Of course, equestrian sport is highly personal and deeply feel-based.

Many riders are skeptical of technology trying to interpret something as nuanced as riding. Every horse is different. Every ride feels different. And experienced trainers often rely on instinct developed over decades.

The worry is will AI replace equestrian coaching. Most likely NO.

The important question is:
Can AI help riders remember, reinforce, and apply great coaching more consistently?

EQ Coach-Copilot answers that question — and will become more of a training partner riders don’t want to ride without.
