Patrick Husting is a man with a mission. After a successful technology career including selling a tech company, he started riding only four years ago, built a new house and barn and purchased some horses. He soon became frustrated with the horse care apps and applied what he learned in the tech world to help him manage and track his horses and ended up creating a popular app called The Equestrian App. His mission, after 2 years now in the market and over 25,000 global members is to provide an easy to use - ‘smart app’ to help people help horses.
Read MoreEvery horse rider knows how difficult it can be to get a good riding video without specialized equipment. More often than not, one would have to rely on the assistance of friends and family. But even then, you can still end up having extremely shaky footage — leaving you with no choice but to do retakes for hours on end. Thankfully, as cameras continue to advance with technology, auto-follow models that can just simply be mounted onto a fence, or any similar surface, are now widely available. The only thing left for equestrians to do is to mount the camera and wear a motion tracking device that will automatically transmit their location to the camera for it to track.

We hope you enjoy these pictures as much as we enjoyed taking them. Congratulations to all of the competitors this year for your dedication to the sport and best of luck in the New Year!
It had all the makings of being a banner year – two thousand and twenty – the dawn of a new decade with the economy in hyper drive and so many exciting new horse tech advancements, horse shows and more until that all changed in the blink of an eye. We’ve had to learn to navigate the ‘new normal’ and if you were like me, you cherished your time riding and the therapy of being around horses even more so. And given the difficulties this year has given us; I structured the question to the advisory board around top takeaway from the year let’s read their responses.
Read MoreAs we approach the end of one of the most turbulent years on record, I thought it was time to take a deep breath and focus on ‘giving back’ which coincides with the traditions of the Thanksgiving holiday. When I was growing up, each year my father would ask me and my siblings – one simple question – ‘What are you most thankful for this year?” In unison (this year especially) we would say our health and then for me – horseback riding – because it truly is one of the most gratifying experiences (on so many levels) I can recall. With that in mind, I asked The Tech Equestrian Advisory board the following two-part question to help get everyone in the holiday spirit of giving back…
Read MoreManaging waivers that pertain to owning, showing or just being around horses – just got a whole lot easier, thanks to Strider, a company whose mission it is to connect riders and organizers throughout the equestrian industry. Recently, The Tech Equestrian had the chance to speak with Heather Briggs, Chief Technology Officer at Strider about their new eWaiver service. Read MoreOctober may be a spooky month for your horse when the wind kicks up and the imaginary ghosts take over the spooky corner of the ring - but it doesn’t have to be for keeping your data (and your horses’ information) safe. In the tech world, data is sacred and there are many bad actors that want to misuse and steal your data for monetary reasons. With personal data widely available online, we asked The Tech Equestrian board members two questions: 1) How does your company protect your subscribers/customers data when they download your app or visit your website? and 2) What would you recommend equestrians do to protect their data and their horses data?
Read MoreSeptember is a month that offers a fresh start as schools open their doors (or at least ‘virtual’ ones) and students become one with the learning experience. At The Tech Equestrian, learning leads to evolving which is at the core of technology, so we asked our esteemed Advisory Board: What are your favorite resources for learning more about horses? Your business? Technology? Please include at least 3 sources and name(s) of books; online resources; videos and more - and include reasons why.
Read MoreOne can argue, that data has been the single most powerful tool in our fight against the global pandemic. From how to prevent the disease (six feet, masks, washing) to percentage of exposure and chances of the next hotspot. We live in extremely difficult times – and even with technology, you can easily get overwhelmed with consuming too much information and confused on how to interpret. With all of the data drama playing out on a large scale, we wanted to ask The Tech Equestrian Advisory Board two questions on how data is used in the horse world…
There are many necessities when it comes to owning a horse and making sure you have a the most up-to-date health information tops many an equestrians list. The Tech Equestrian is always exploring what’s new and what’s next as it relates to horse tech and recently had the opportunity to speak with Barbara Blasko, founder and owner of Electronic Vet (eVet) to learn first-hand on how her product makes being a vet and managing vaccines as a horse owner seamless, accurate and worry-free.
