TTE ADVISORY BOARD: Giving Back and New Ideas for Non-Profits

As we approach the end of one of the most turbulent years on record, I thought it was time to take a deep breath and focus on ‘giving back’ which coincides with the traditions of the Thanksgiving holiday. When I was growing up, each year my father would ask me and my siblings – one simple question – ‘What are you most thankful for this year?” In unison (this year especially) we would say our health and then for me – horseback riding – because it truly is one of the most gratifying experiences (on so many levels) I can recall. With that in mind, I asked The Tech Equestrian Advisory board the following two-part question to help get everyone in the holiday spirit of giving back…

Sustainability Spotlight: Green Is the New Blue

In everyday life when we consume something, we most likely (hopefully) ask the question ‘can this be recycled?’ especially when it comes to glass, plastic or paper. However, in the horse world, unfortunately that is not as common, but thanks to a new environmental initiative called “Green Is the New Blue” created by lifelong equestrian, Stephanie Bulger, that is about to change. The Tech Equestrian had a chance to catch up with Stephanie recently to share her ideas, plans and overall focus of the organization.

MY RIGHT HORSE: Horse Adoption Comes of Age

As we know horses are herd animals. In the wild they survive by forming bands to protect themselves from predators. This collective group forms a strong bond led by instinct and their dominate traits of hearing, sight, smell and of course, speed that allow the breed to reproduce and survive. When The Tech Equestrian recently spoke with Christie Schulte Kappert, Program Manager from My Right Horse, an online portal that specializes in horse adoption and is an extension of The Right Horse Initiative, the power of teamwork is apparent from the many partner organizations that help drive the mission forward.
